A Witch Among Friends Carl Jacobs Mystery Book 3 eBook Dale Whisman
Carl Jacobs is definitely not your run-of-the-mill Private Investigator. While he's smart & good at his job, his priorities are being a good husband & father. You really have to like the guy. Yet this home & hearth thing doesn't in the least slow down the action of this novelLittle Jan spends the night with Carl's girls, but when it comes time to take her home there's nobody there. After several days with the Jacobs family, Aunt Donna comes to pick her up with no explanation regarding the missing parents. Only after Jan leaves do Carl's kids announce that the child is a witch. Pause for thought? When the contact info left by Auntie dearest with the Jacobs' & the police proves to be worthless, the gauntlet has been thrown & Carl is on the case.
As the mutilated bodies of animals and women climbs in a two state area, Carl learns more that he ever wanted to know about witches, warlocks, covens, voo-doo, orgies, and seances. All this is presented to the reader without overly graphic violence, sex, or language...which I, for one, appreciate.
All in all, this is a thoroughly enjoyable read with well-developed characters and situations presented with just the right amount of skepticism of the subject matter. The ending ties all the threads together neatly while leaving both Jacobs & the reader wondering if some unbelievable things are in fact believable.

A Witch Among Friends Carl Jacobs Mystery Book 3 eBook Dale Whisman Reviews
I just picked up A Witch Among Friends and I'm so hooked, I can't get anything else done but READ. If you're looking for an intriguing mystery with a twist of wry humor, this is the book for you. Very well done, Mr. Whisman. I look forward to reading your future works!
Whisman has again written a humorous and engaging mystery that pulls you in right from the start. Before you know it you have finished it and asking for more.
Sharp writing, snappy pace, wonderful touches of humor that aren't overdone and intriguing twists. A very nice read. Well done Mr. Whisman. I'll now be looking for more of your work.
I'm not sure if the author was intentionally being sarcastic when he talked about how children were "indoctrinated" into Wicca and he insisted on taking his own children to church, but I felt that was a little sanctimonious, especially if he was serious.
Overall, I felt that it was a good read, except for the religious intolerance of the main character. I think that bothered my sense of integrity.
I love him.
Truly, his relationship is amazing. He's an awesome dad and a great husband.
Sure the story is about religious intolerance, but, in all honesty, a lot of people are intolerant of the unknown. Not all of the descriptions of Pagans and Wiccans were authentic, nor were they all completely false.
It was a great mystery, good plot, and really kept the readers guessing.
I think I have fallen in love with Carl Jacobs. I really liked this story, the premise and the characters. I love that his daughters and wife are more involved in the story than they were in the last story I read with Carl.
As a Wiccan some of the parts of the story are really hard to fathom but I can understand that there "are good witches and bad witches in this world."
I do have to say that the one thing that drives me crazy about this series is how almost all the women in these stories are totally in love with Carl, want to sleep with him and they don't care that he is married.
